Without getting too technical, we’re tuning your engine with new software. We download the software to your engine’s computer without any physical modifications. The software then tells the computer that controls your engine how much power to make, and we do this by letting the turbocharger do more work. We fine tune and optimize several other parameters and the end result is up-to a whopping 87 horsepower and 114 ft-lbs of torque. It’s like getting a more powerful engine, but at a fraction of the cost.
Your engine continues to get great fuel economy, and only uses more fuel when you ask your engine for more with your right foot! When you cruise on the highway, or even around town, you’ll typically see the same consumption as you would without the APR ECU upgrade. When you put the pedal to the metal, you’ll use more fuel. Mileage is ultimately up to you and your driving style.
APR’s ECU upgrades are one of the best horsepower-per-dollar modifications for the new 2.0T engine. The APR Stage I ECU Upgrade is designed to work without requiring other changes to the vehicle’s hardware. With the ECU Upgrade alone, APR’s Calibration Experts measured higher peak figures of 381 ft-lbs of torque and 316 horsepower with 93 AKI octane fuel. Large gains were seen throughout the power band, including an additional 114 ft-lbs of torque and 87 horsepower. Even higher figures were achieved using race fuel.
For those looking for a more modest bump in horsepower and torque, lower output software is available. In both cases the increase in horsepower and torque directly translates to an exceptionally quicker vehicle. Using advanced GPS measuring devices and the local IHRA certified drag strip, APR’s engineers conducted several acceleration tests. During the quarter mile sprint, the APR Stage I equipped vehicle crossed the finish line 1.094 seconds quicker, with an exit speed 13.3 MPH faster!
The APR Stage II ECU Upgrade is designed to work with APR’s Exhaust Downpipe. When combined with APR’s Intake System, peak power and torque figures grew further to 336 horsepower and 404 ft-lbs of torque. The additional hardware allowed the turbo to spool faster and power carried better towards redline, resulting in up to an additional 90 ft-lbs of torque and 28 horsepower.
